SENT
“Behold, I am sending you like sheep in the midst of wolves;
so be shrewd as serpents and simple as doves…” - from the Holy Gospel today (Matthew 10:16-23)
What does it mean to be sent? To be sent by God means to follow Him and to accept whatever He asks you to do. Even if it means going to the ends of the earth, to the nastiest place and the most uncomfortable place ever. God challenges us to seek Him especially in those moments! In other words, He wants us to learn how to LOVE.
I also love how He says, “I am sending you like sheep in the midst of wolves…” I thought to myself, “Why a sheep, Lord? Why can’t it be a lion or a bear or a dragon?”…The Lord promises us in Isaiah 11:6 that one day the wolf and the sheep will be united, until then the sheep (Jesus’ disciples & believers. i.e. us) must be prepared for strife, persecution and oppression during their mission on earth. But He assures us, “Do not worry about how you are to speak or what to say,” because He promises to send His spirit to come to our aid! Isn’t that amazing? All we need to do is to answer God’s question: This is my task for you at its grimmest and worst: Do You ACCEPT? (Source: droid app: CatholicOne)

deuteronomy 6:4-7
Listen, Israel: the Lord our God is the one Lord.
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength.
Let these words I urge on you today be written on your heart.
You shall repeat them to your children and say them over to them whether at rest in your house or walking abroad, at your lying down or at your rising.

The Gift of Life
…during morning prayer
“Lord, teach me not to hold on to life too tightly. Teach me to take it as a gift. To enjoy it, to cherish it while I have it, but to let go gracefully and thankfully when the time comes. The gift is great, but the giver is greater still. You are the giver and in You is a life that never ends.” - Saint Ignatius of Loyola (Go Jesuits :)!)

“Many people say to me: The youth of today are not interested in this. I disagree, and I am certain that I am right. The youth of today are not as superficial as some think. They want to know what life is really all about.”
-Pope Benedict XVI

Rejoice and be glad, says the Lord,
– because your names are written in heaven.
